Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.

How accurate is the estimator?
It uses the same pricing engine we use on real iSpec jobsites in Columbus. The number you see is a real ballpark range, not a national average. Final number depends on jobsite conditions and your actual selections — we verify both before a formal quote.
Why is the range so wide?
Because your selections matter more than you think. A mid-range bathroom with a basic vanity vs. a custom one can swing the number by $5k on its own. Play with the variable items in step 3 to see how each choice moves the total.
Do I have to give you my email?
No. The estimator works end-to-end without any contact info. Step 5 is optional — only fill it in if you want a detailed itemized breakdown delivered to your inbox.
What does "tier" mean?
Tier changes the scope, not just the prices. Standard keeps your layout and uses stock finishes. Mid-range upgrades materials. High-end adds custom work. Luxury does structural changes and top-of-line everything. Same labor quality at every tier — the difference is in what gets installed.
Is labor included in the estimate?
Yes. The estimate breaks out materials/fixtures and labor separately on the summary step. Labor scales with both your tier and your size.
Does this include permits, inspections, or design fees?
Not directly. Simple renovations rarely need design fees. If your project needs structural changes, expect to add 3–8% for design and permits on top of the construction number.
Can I use this for insurance claims or refinance appraisals?
It's a planning tool — useful as a starting point, but not a contractor quote or an appraisal. If you need a number on letterhead, reach out and we can put one together.
